Visiting the world famous Neuschwanstein Castle this weekend.
Here are a few tips to make the trip as enjoyable as possible:
IF you are staying in our hotel, we can arrange to book and collect your tickets for you – saving you standing in line and also getting you a guaranteed tour for the time you wish for.
IF you stay a minimum of 2 nights with us , you get a “Schwangau Card” – which allows you free bus travel for the duration of your stay. We will also help you find the best bus connections.
We recommend leaving the hotel at least 90 minutes before tour time to a) allow time to get to the village and b) weather-permitting – to visit the Mary’s Bridge with it’s breathtaking views of Neuschwanstein first.
Once you get to the village, there are two options to get up to the castle:
1) Walking – which takes a good half an hour from the village of Hohenschwangau
2) Horse Carriage – quite a slow and expensive way to get up to the castle, but advisable for elderly or small children without a push chair.
The third and most popular option – the shuttle bus – is not available in the winter months due to icy conditions.
Be at the castle ready for your tour number to be called. IF you are late you cannot get in with your ticket.
